I know it seems very, very early to begin thinking about VBS 2009, but that's just how my mind works.  I wanted to get these things up and running so that you
all could look at them when you had the time available.  Please let me know if there is anything you'd like to see on these pages and I'll do my best to get that
up for you.  I created this for you, the teachers and directors who make VBS possible.  I'm trying to do everything I can to make your job just a little bit easier.
If there's anything I can do to help you with anything, whether its VBS related or not, please let me know.

I don't get enough of a chance to tell you all how very much I appreciate everything you do for our church and our kids.  I'll try to post a little something about
VBS every month or so until we get a little closer - when "normal" people start thinking about VBS (as Samantha often tells me).  Just remember, wherever
you go and whatever you do.....................IT ALL COMES BACK TO
JESUS!!

Yours & His,
Michelle

The Budget Committee has been hard at work setting the budget for 2009, which means I've done a lot of pouring over Lifeway's VBS site and the VBS
catalog and making some decisions regarding next year.  It's very tough to decide what I'll buy or not buy 9 months from now!  But it does get me excited
thinking about the possibilities.  One of my favorite verses in the Bible comes from Habbakuk 1:5.  It says, "Look at the nations and watch, and be utterly
amazed. For I am going to do something in your days that you would not believe, even if you were told."  I love this verse and I get goosebumps every time I
read it!  I can imagine standing on the stage and looking out over the faces of all those kids and not even being able to imagine all the wonderful things God
has in store for them because of our service to Him through VBS.  Are you getting excited yet?

Have a great Thanksgiving holiday and let other people know about this site.  The more excited and prepared we are, the better VBS will be.  Start praying
now for all those kids!!

Yours & His,
Michelle

First of all, I hope that each of you is ready for a great year in 2009!  Secondly, I hope each of you is planning to attend the Experiencing God weekend on
January 16-18.  Once you've experienced God, there's no going back.  In this new year, commit to serving God with all your heart.  Sometimes we get need a
little renewal and re-charging of our batteries to serve God with everything we have.  This weekend will be a great time for you to renew and re-charge.  Don't
miss out on what God's doing at FBCB!

There will be a VBS training on March 7 at Bay Area Baptist Church in League City.  This will be a large conference with lots of awesome decorations and
great examples and ideas.  It's an all day training with lunch provided.  We'll take a church van so don't let that stop you.  Mark it on your calendar and plan
to be there to get a heads up on what's coming around on the Boomerang Express!  Let me know if you'll be going with us!

Yours & His,
Michelle

Well, I seriously doubt that anyone out there is bored enough to actually read these blogs so I won't try to put important information in them, but I did want to
let everyone know that it makes my day when someone mentions VBS to me.  So please continue to mention it, and if you're not, then make my day and ask
me about it!!  :)  Seriously, I love it when someone calls me, emails me, facebooks me, or comes up to me at church and volunteers to help with VBS.  If you
haven't done it already, then you should do it sometime soon!!

I sent out a postcard about an upcoming training opportunity.  If you didn't get a postcard and would still like to come, just let me know.  The more the merrier.
This training is very good and if nothing else, will give you an idea of the theme, decorations, songs, etc.  I know that Passion Play is coming up and that
tends to cloud our minds, but remember that VBS is just around the corner and it is the biggest outreach we do for children and their families.

We need to be thinking, planning, organizing, and most of all, praying for VBS even now!  The Bible says, "The prayer of a righteous man (woman) is
powerful and effective." (James 5:16).  I added the word in parenthesis.  I love this passage because it goes on to explain that Elijah was a man just like us.
Well, the last time I checked, I was no where as faithful, strong, righteous, powerful, insert any other characteristic here, as Elijah!  But that's part of how
amazing our God is!  He looks at each of us and sees people like Elijah.  The passage then talks about how Elijah prayed earnestly that it would not rain and
it didn't rain for 3 and 1/2 years.  Then Elijah prayed that it would rain and it rained.  The implication here is that if we pray earnestly for something (granted, it
must be part of God's will for us) then it will happen.  Just as easy as that!!

The Bible also tells us that "He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance."  (2 Peter 3:9).  So we know that God's
will is for children and their families to hear God's word and learn that Jesus loves them and died to save them.  We need to begin praying earnestly that God
would begin to work that in those children and their families even now.  Knowing what we know and Who we know, how can we not pray?!?!

Yours & His,
Michelle

March 11, 2009
VBS is fast approaching!  I think I probably say that every time, but it's true!  I attended a VBS conference last weekend and I'm more excited than ever about
what God will be doing this summer.  (I'm wearing my VBS shirt for the first time today!  That always gets me pumped up!)

I was talking to Amye Byrd Sunday and she was telling me about how her girls still put on their Outrigger Island CD and know all the motions and words.  That
thrills me like you will never believe.  Amye said she wasn't sure how we'd ever top last year.  I've got news for you, Amye!  I hope to have a VBS preview day
for all of you where you can see and experience some of the VBS material so you'll understand what I'm talking about.  I get chills just thinking about this
year's ABC song!  I can't explain it, you'll just have to wait until you hear it.

I'm probably going to start working on some preliminary decorations during Spring Break, just so I can get a little bit a head of the game.  So if you're
interested in learning more about VBS or volunteering to help, let me know!  You don't want to miss the Boomerang Express, Where It All Comes Back to
Jesus!

By the way, we'll be studying the life of Peter all week in VBS and how everything in his life pointed people back to Jesus.  That's kind of what we're doing in
Passion Play also.  Keep that in mind while you're watching, rehearsing, or whatever you do for Passion Play.  Isn't it cool how God works all the details out to
have these two big events in our church piggyback on one another.  So when you see kids and parents at Passion Play, let them know that when their kids
come to VBS this summer, they'll get to hear and experience the same stories they saw in Passion Play, just organized for them and on their level.  What a
great way to invite people back to our church!!

Until then, keep praying and reaching out to those kids in your neighborhood.  God has a plan for them and VBS is part of that plan!

Yours & His,
Michelle
